Improvements in Wireless Technology…
New wireless standards are being adapted that you should be aware of as you develop a wireless infrastructure.
The popular standards from the past have been A, B, G, N. Now there is AC. What is confusing to most is the speed that these standards will run. While AC has been advertised to run at its theoretical maximum of 1.3 Gigabit per second (Gbps) you will lucky to see it hit around 400Mbps. AC also runs strickly on the 5Ghz frequency which is good and bad at the same time. The 5GHz frequency is less congested and has more room to expand but has less range.
AC is backwards compatible as long as it is configured to accept the other standards.
Why is this important? Typically when you configure a newer, faster, wireless protocol and you want the backwards compatibility you limit the new standard to the slower speeds than if you configure to run just the new standard.
There are many factors involved in creating a solid and reliable wireless infrastructure. Let BK Business Solutions help you design a plan that is customized for your needs.
